Providing superior protection for electronics was a primary goal in developing the PowerHouse HD dirt housing line. The housing’s electronic cavity for beacons and sondes is rotated to the 3 or 9 o’clock position. This unique, side-load design creates a more durable housing—up to 25 percent stronger than top- or bottom-load housings. If the beacon or sonde gets overheated or plugged downhole, the PowerHouse HD housing’s exclusive, patented Beacon Buddy device melts to regain fluid flow, minimizing damage to the electronics.
The PowerHouse HD housing is equipped with a check valve system that minimizes fluid loss and the time it takes to reach full pressure. The check valve also helps prevent plugging of the nozzles by eliminating backflow into the system. PowerHouse HD dirt housings feature recessed nozzles that are positioned to help the bits cut into the soil conditions with ease.
A patented lid system offers the drill operator options to retain the lid in order to suit different drilling conditions: a two-bolt lid for easier conditions and a pinned lid for medium to hard soil conditions.
PowerHouse HD dirt housings offer superior isolation for DCI® electronics, like all Ditch Witch electronics today. Isolators prevent battery arcing and dampen shock loads on electronics, saving wear and tear. The PowerHouse HD housing’s open cavity, slot placement and slot sizes are design features that help extend battery life, which minimizes downtime and greatly improves productivity. Lab and field tests showed an increase of up to 22 percent more battery life than the competition.
